Rajiv Surendra was born in Toronto, Canada to parents who emigrated from Sri Lanka. He attended Wexford School for the Arts (high school) before earning a degree in Art History and Classical Civilization from The University of Toronto. 

Widely known for his scene-stealing role as Kevin G. in Mean Girls, Rajiv is also a modern-day Renaissance Man. His DIY/How-To videos on YouTube have amassed over 20 million views from people across the globe who share his passion for all things domestic and handmade.

Rajiv is an accomplished calligrapher, running his own business, Letters In Ink, for over ten years. He’s also a skilled potter, with a line of flower pots sold at boutique plant stores all over Manhattan. Rajiv paints, carves wood, plays the harp and guitar and is even a published author – his memoir, The Elephants In My Backyard (Penguin Random House Canada), chronicles his journey spending seven years chasing after the lead role in Life of Pi.

Rajiv loves to swim in the ocean. He spends most of every summer in rural Rhode Island, jumping into the Atlantic almost every afternoon.
